Our teaching scheme is specifically designed for primary school children (KS2), who learn in small groups at their school.

Lessons are planned using the Standard of Excellence teaching scheme and accompanying cd, which has been specifically written for group learning, promoting 'enjoyment through achievement'

Your child’s musical journey starts with a practical music workshop at their school. One of our teachers will come and introduce your child to each of the instruments that we offer by teaching them about different musical families, the different styles of music they are associated with, in an enjoyable and engaging learning environment.

A letter is then sent out to all parents and carers advising them of a parents meeting where our tutor will be in school to talk through the scheme. Our teacher will also ensure that your child starts on an instrument that is suitable to their individual needs, by making a professional assessment based on size and capability. All Music in Schools York teachers are fully CRB checked and have undergone a training program including training in child protection.
